Andreas Polyzogopoulos Trio (GR)
Trumpet player and composer Andreas Polyzogopoulos presents Petrichor — a ruminative, all-original, airy and deeply soulful album. The ensemble features Andreas Polyzogopoulos on the trumpet and effects, Grigoris Theodoridis on the double bass and Yiannis Papadopoulos on the piano. Without a drummer, the trio creates a warm, spacious sound, but also a firm and decisive rhythmic sense.
The European jazz scene is where Andreas developed his personal style, taking risks through experimentations with the trumpet´s timbres, rhythm, electronic effects and silence.
Petrichor is “the smell emerging when rain falls on dry ground, my favourite scent since I was a child…” The fineness of those feelings along with the natural, organic scent of that very first rain brilliantly bring out the trio´s haunted, expressive, atmospheric lyricism.
Andreas Polyzogopoulos: trumpet
Yiannis Papadopoulos: piano
Grigoris Theodoridis: double bass
