Kardjin Sax Quartet (CY/FR/IT/DE)

The Kardjin Saxophone Quartet was formed by four saxophonists from different countries and backgrounds especially to participate at Windcraft Music Fest 10. The four musicians will meet for the first time in Katydata and will work together with Cypriot composer Evagoras Karageorgis to present samples of folk music from Cyprus in a new form, character and arrangements.

Through the folk music tradition of each society, various musical elements (melodies, rhythms, harmonies, modes, forms) or other social elements (love, affection, beauty, nature, activities, people, etc.) are explored. All these elements have reached our days through time, sometimes intact and sometimes altered or varied. However, their essence and value remains unchanged and continues to inspire the younger generation to recreate them in the world of today.

The following pieces will be presented, adapted/arranged by Evagoras Karageorgis:

Roullomaroullotilliro / I threw an apple (Esyra to milo) / Red rose (Kotsini trantafylia) / Mantra / Sickle's dance (Horos tou drepaniou)

The Kardjin Sax Quartet consists of:

Charis Ioannou (Cyprus) - soprano saxophone

Bruno Tomasello (Italy) - alto saxophone

Lasse Golz (Germany) - tenor saxophone

Thibault Galloy (France) - baritone saxophone
