PERFORMANCE
“The fellowship of Aeolus” – Bruno Tomasello & Marina Katsari (IT/CY)
“Nay, come, let us quickly see what is here,
what store of gold and silver is in the wallet”
(The Odyssey, Rapsody 10, 45-46. Translation by Samuel Butler)
Italian saxophone player and multi-instrumentalist Bruno Tomasello and Cypriot storyteller Marina Katsari are hosted by Windcraft Music Fest under an artist residency, whereby they will intertwine improvisational music with the story of the “Bag of Aeolus” (Rhapsody 10) of Homer’s Odyssey. Their experiment will evolve into a musical-narrative performance piece, which will be presented at the Festival.
Using Aeolus’s gift, wind, as well as human curiosity, which can transform gods’ gifts into means of (self)destruction, as their driving force, the two artists follow an experimental creative process that searches for mythological archetypes, connects Mediterranean shores and highlights all those timeless cultural elements uniting human beings and being present in all civilisations.
